Roma manager Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham star Eric Dier
In opposing views to AS Roma director Tiago Pinto’s vision, manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Tottenham and England star Eric Dier for I Giallorossi. Pinto sees Chelsea defenders Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarra as ideal transfer targets.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues could stand at a crossroads when it comes to the transfer market. Poch wants a striker at Stamford Bridge, but FFP rules hold him back from doing so. That’s where Sarr and Chalobah come in. To swap them both and get Tammy Abraham on board from Roma is what the Blues plan.
However, opposing the plan is the main man himself, Jose. The former Spurs manager wants to reunite with Eric Dier, who played 57 games for him during his time at the N17.
According to Italian outlet Romagiallorossa via Express, the Serie A outfit are interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah and forgotten man Malang Sarr.
But as earlier mentioned, Pinto and Mourinho do not have the same view. The coach reportedly wants Dier instead of Chalobah or Sarr, and the England international’s contract situation would make him a cheaper option. His contract expires in 2024 (Transfermarkt).
The contrasting views within Roma’s hierarchy set the stage for intriguing negotiations and potential developments in the upcoming transfer window.
Tottenham fans and even Mourinho fans for that matter, will be watching closely to see how this transfer saga unfolds, with the prospect of Dier reuniting with Mourinho adding an unexpected layer of drama to the January transfer proceedings.
