Tottenham Hotspur handed boost in pursuit of Arsenal target Radu Dragusin
Agent of Genoa’s Radu Dragusin, Florin Manea, has confirmed that he held talks with Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move for his client.
The 21-year-old Romania international has made big waves in recent months and has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s top clubs. This includes the Magpies, the Gunners, and the Lilywhites, along with Serie A giants AC Milan.
Speaking in comments relayed via Romanian outlet Fanatik, Manea said:
“I have been in London for some time and have almost weekly meetings with important teams. We are getting closer. I spoke with Newcastle, with Arsenal, with Tottenham. I also have the messages with them, conversations. There are teams that ask.”
“I want to say that 100% by next summer, Radu will play in a not strong, very strong club! In the top 10 in the world. He wants to be in the Premier League , but know that Milan like him a lot. I talked to the people there.”
Good news?
Indeed. It’s a good sign that Dragusin will move in 2024 but the bad news here will be the competition that is there for him. His agent seems to want a war between the clubs for the Romanian centre-back.
And for good reason. At 21, the imposing centre-back has become a leader at Genoa. He is strong in the air, physical, and decent with the ball at his feet.
Moreover, there is a lot of space for him to improve given his age. One advantage we can hope to have is the lack of depth in the backline, so Dragusin would know that getting playing time could be easier at Spurs.
Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are our only world-class options at centre-back, with Eric Dier slated to leave the club on a free transfer in 2024. In that situation, Spurs will do well to put the money on the table for a brilliant young centre-back like Dragusin, who already has 12 senior caps for his nation.

The former Juventus defender still has over three and a half years left on his contract at Genoa (Transfermarkt), so that could be a bit of a problem for Spurs and the other teams if Genoa don’t want to cash in just now.
