Transfer insider Dean Jones gives his thoughts on the future of Richarlison at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham raked out €60m to acquire the Brazilian Forward Richarlison from Everton back in 2022. Despite the heavy price tag that he came with Richarlison has failed to impress. As per Eurosport, he has since been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia during January’s transfer window.
There has been a question mark surrounding Richarlison’s future with the Spurs for quite some time now. The 26-year-old forward has been questionable at best recording just 7 goals and 7 assists in 49 appearances for the Lilywhites (transfermarkt).
But, the Lilywhites have had no shortage of injury troubles this season. What began as a wonderful campaign has somewhat been stalled because of this. Consequently, Ange Postecoglou has been looking to bolster his attacking line for quite a while now.
With Tottenham Hotspur’s injury struggles in mind journalist Dean Jones shared some insights on Richarlison’s future with the club. Here’s what he had to say about the situation (h/t Givemesport).
“If Richarlison leaves then I think they go and get a more central forward, because they’re going to be short and they’ll need somebody that can go into the area. But if Richarlison sticks around, which at the moment is looking the most likely case then I think it’ll be someone that plays around the centre forward.”
According to Jones, Postecoglou will be looking to acquire a quality player who can play as a Centre Forward. The most sensible reason behind not shipping out Richarlison would be the lack of depth which has been a glaring issue for the Spurs.

If Tottenham are to contest for the title then Postecoglou must aggressively shop to add more depth to his attacking lineup this January. While mostly unimpressive, Richarlison does have his moments as we saw him score a brace against Newcastle United.
With the Brazilian winger likely to stick around, it’ll be interesting to see what moves Postecoglou makes this January as he preps his team for a run at the title.
