Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou fails to shy away from Cristian Romero admission
Tottenham star Cristian Romero has been a linchpin in the backline for Ange Postecoglou. Whether it is his defensive prowess or commanding, Cuti has been up there. The captain without the armband.
However, he saw himself suspended due to a red card against Chelsea. The Argentine international went studs in on national team-mate Enzo Fernandez and that “challenge” easily warranted a direct sending-off.
The games he missed were not particularly great for Spurs with us gathering just one point from four games in that period, and that point came in a 3-3 draw against Manchester City. More recently, in our win against Newcastle United, Cuti again went studs first on the shin of Magpies attacker Callum Wilson. The challenge was pretty awful, but one could say he got lucky to avoid a red card.
Speaking about the same, here is what manager Ange Postecoglou had to say addressing Romero‘s need to make adjustments to his game:
“To an extent but it’s fair to say the spotlight will be on him for the rest of the year. Any challenge he does whether it’s something that’s pretty clear like the Chelsea game or last week which I thought was as much clumsy as anything else.”
“And he knows that, he understands that. He’s just got to make the adjustments that he needs to do during the game. But I don’t think it’s a subject for long chats. It’s pretty evident the impact he has on us when he’s playing and when he’s not, and we much prefer to have him out there.”
Despite the need for adjustments, Postecoglou highlighted Romero’s undeniable impact on the team, both when he’s on the pitch and when he’s absent.
The manager expressed a preference for having Romero in the lineup, bringing attention to the positive influence the defender brings to the squad.
As the spotlight remains on Romero’s playing style, Tottenham fans will closely watch how the Argentine adjusts his approach to ensure he remains a formidable force in the backline while avoiding unnecessary suspensions.
Tottenham fans will closely watch Romero’s performances, hoping for a consistent and disciplined display from the talented defender, as the team aims for success in all competitions.
