Tottenham defender Cristian Romero expresses his desire to be at the club for the longest period
This season, we have witnessed an ever-strong Cristian Romero leading Tottenham Hotspur from the back. His partnership with Micky van de Ven gave Spurs a stupendous start to the campaign. The latter eventually succumbed to injury, leaving Romero alone with the charge.
Romero couldn’t carry the mantle too far as he earned a red card soon after. The Lilywhites were quite hurt in the absence of van de Ven and later, Romero. The return of the Argentine to the Tottenham squad was marked by a massive 4-1 victory over Newcastle United. Speaking to SWM in an exclusive interview, Sergio Romero revealed his intentions with the club.
Romero went candid about his love for the club and the city by stating,
“I’ve been fortunate enough to live in a few different cities during my career, but nothing compares to London. It’s a city with a brilliant story and, in my opinion, the world’s capital. I love the people here, the diversity and the history.”
What is Romero’s future at the club according to him
The Argentine World Cup winner further revealed how London will always be home for him and the family. The reason for this immense love is rather interesting. Romero’s son was born in London, giving the city a special place in his heart.
Considering his transfer rumours, Cristian added,
“If I were a person who only thought about money, I would have made different decisions, but my thoughts were always about playing for Argentina. That’s why I had to play in the Premier League, and to do that with Tottenham Hotspur, one of the most important clubs in the game, has been incredible.”
