Tottenham Hotspur summer signing is extremely happy with the Lilywhites. He says he would have signed with his ‘own blood’

Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Guglielmo Vicario for €19m back in June 2023. The 27-year-old is so happy at the club that he says he would have signed his contract using his own blood if a pen wasn’t available.

While this isn’t a normal thing to say for most people, it surely isn’t a very surprising statement because Vicario said it. The Italian started his career attending nightclubs every Friday.

To come from his humble beginnings with Serie D side Fontanafredda, all the way to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League is no small feat. Vicario’s reaction fits his personality and contrasts how much work he has put in to be here.

However, the work has just begun for 27-year-old Vicario. Tonight’s game against Manchester United will be a big test for the keeper. The Lilywhites are gunning for three points as they aim for the Premier League title, The Italian’s contributions will play no small role in their run.

Let’s have a look at Vicario’s statement. (h\t The Guardian)

“I said that I would have walked here if needed and signed in my own blood,”

Vicario then proceeded to say that his move to Tottenham was an opportunity that he just couldn’t afford to miss. He went on to give a graphic description and said he would have cut himself to sign that contract with his own blood.

He says that he looks up to Italian legends, Gianluigi Buffon and Dino Zoff. He has successfully replaced club legend Hugo Lloris which is no small feat for someone who started his career in Serie D.
