Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga on his way to join Millwall on loan
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur’s defender Japhet Tanganga will now join Millwall on a loan after returning from the German side Augsburg.
Tanganga signed with the Bundesliga team in September last year, with the possibility of a permanent deal. After sustaining a knee injury, the 24-year-old was forced to sit out for the following two months.
The situation worsened for the stopper as he could not secure a spot in the squad for the subsequent five games. Jess Thorup has placed his trust in a specific group of players. Regrettably for Tanganga, he was not included in it.
The centre-back’s knee injury prevented him from playing in the first seven games of the Bundesliga season upon his arrival to the German club. Despite making a full recovery from his injuries, Tanganga never played a game for the team. The adaptable defender—who can play anywhere in the back four—could begin training with his new side.
At season’s end, his contract will expire, but the Spurs have an option to extend it for another year. Following the November appointment of Joe Edwards as head coach, Millwall have adopted a passing game similar to that of Tottenham Hotspurs under Ange Postecoglou.
Edwards wants to bring in many new players this month because he needs depth. And we feel like the inclusion of our former defender can fill the void. Based on what we are seeing, it seems that Tanganga will only be a liability at Tottenham. There are available positions in Ange Postecoglou’s defence, but he is currently focused on recruiting experienced players.
Even after returning home, the defender’s account remained almost unchanged. At the London club, he was unable to leave an impression on the pitch. Things didn’t pan out as expected with the Augsburg relocation. A knee ailment swiftly turned his trip to Germany into a living nightmare.
