Lille president Olivier Letang confirms Leny Yoro won’t leave the club this transfer window despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur
According to The Standard, LOSC Lille’s club president, Olivier Letang, has stated that their young and talented defender Leny Yoro will not be joining any clubs in this transfer window, despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
It also says that PSG and Lille had reached an agreement for the transfer of the highly promising centre-back, often compared to the talented Raphael Varane. However, Letang has made it clear that Yoro will not be allowed to leave during this transfer window.
This emphatic response comes amid growing rumours about Yoro’s future. The involvement of renowned football agent Jorge Mendes as the youngster’s representative has added to speculation surrounding a potential departure. With Yoro’s contract set to expire soon, Lille may need to consider selling him if a new agreement cannot be reached.

In the previous season, Yoro made 19 appearances, and this year he has secured a spot in the starting eleven, featuring in 24 matches and impressively adding three goals to his tally. Yoro is an incredibly confident player, proficient with both feet and excels at orchestrating plays from the back, showcasing maturity beyond his young age.
Olivier Letang has expressed his dissatisfaction with the numerous rumours surrounding the team’s emerging star player, and understandably so. Losing such a talented player could pose challenges for the team in the long run. However, it seems that Lille is not ready to part ways with the player just yet. Yoro demonstrates great composure with the ball, effortlessly shielding it from opponents with his physical presence. His exceptional technical skills allow him to maintain close control before distributing the ball to a teammate or safely clearing it out of harm’s way.

With impressive passing abilities, Yoro effortlessly delivers accurate long-range passes to the wide areas, giving Lille the flexibility to transition from a shorter passing game to a more direct approach when needed. While Yoro occasionally opts to clear the ball instead of taking the time to control it and regain possession for his team, this is an aspect he can work on, benefiting from his young age and potential for development.
