Academy Watch: Tottenham Hotspur starlet wins Premier League 2 POTM award

Tottenham Academy starlet has won the Premier League 2 POTM award

Tottenham Hotspur will be very happy with their starlet, Will Lankshear who has just recently won the Premier League 2 POTM award. The 18-year-old has been solid during his time with the U-21 team and has recorded 13 goals and two assists in 13 appearances.

Tottenham have been in need of a striker ever since Harry Kane left the fold. Richarlison has picked up the slack recording 11 goals and three assists in just 24 appearances this season. His form in the Premier League has also been impressive as he has scored five goals in his last five games.

However, the team definitely needs a striker for the future and Will Lankshear seems to be the man who will walk in the footsteps of the England team’s captain. Hopefully, unlike Kane, 18-year-old Lankshear will win some silverware during his time with the Spurs.

This season will likely proceed as normal. Tottenham are currently fourth in the Premier League and are seven points behind league leaders Liverpool. Seeing as the title race is kind of close, Ange Postecoglou will not risk calling Lankshear over to the first team.

However, the start of the next season will surely be the time when we see the 18-year-old feature in the Premier League. If he can successfully adapt and continue his prolific production, Richarlison might just become his backup instead of the other way around.

Postecoglou’s young core is shaping up to provide a very exciting future for the Spurs.

The Greek-Australian coach seems to have adopted Barcelona’s philosophy and is hard at work trying to develop all the young talent that he has on his team.

With a little time and patience, the Spurs can grow to be a force to be reckoned with. For now, the team will be focusing on tomorrow’s game. The Lilywhites will take on the Wolves in what is a must-win game for Postecoglou’s men.
