Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur adds to the super Sunday’s exciting weekend as both clubs eye CL spot

While the race top of the table is shaping up to be an exciting one, the Premier League is blessed with more well-nigh races around the table. The race for the fourth Champions League spot is shaping to be an exciting one with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa leading the race in the standings with 55 points.

The Spaniard has an exciting style of play going at Villa Park and as Tottenham Hotspur visits Aston Villa at the weekend, the result of the game could prove to be crucial for the Champions League qualification race. The team that wins the game this weekend might as well have an opportunity to clinch the fourth place.

Tottenham, as of now, are breathing down Villa’s neck with a five-point gap and a fixture in hand – a win against The Villans could get things nip and tuck. However, if Spurs were to lose this, they would go eight points behind and give Emery’s side some breathing room.

This sums up to be an exciting and difficult fixture. Aston Villa has made Villa Park almost a fortress and beating them there is quite a task. That being said, Villa are going through a bit of a rough patch as they come into the game on the back of almost throwing away a comfortable lead against Luton Town last weekend.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson “can’t wait” for Sunday as Tottenham visits Villa Park.

In his column for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson has stuck his neck out with a 2-2 prediction for the fixture. He ‘cannot seem to separate’ both the teams looking at their squads and the seasons they are having.
