Tottenham star Pape Sarr at 21 displays how jock and nerd might not be mutually exclusive identities!
The prodigy Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham has revealed his true passion in life. Before the big game with Aston Villa, he is reported to have admitted to being interested in Computer Science. This is an interesting turn of events given his thriving career in the field, but his unconventional interest in science can be an asset in the field.
Further, Sarr thinks that his penchant for computers has helped him keep his head in the game. He related his work as a midfield to the problem-solving of an IT expert. He thinks of the team as “a family, which resembles the way a computer works”.
He has been very vocal about how he is going to pursue Computer Science after his career. He also plans on taking up formal study in the subject in the upcoming year or two, which would be good for him since he is interested in the hardware and how computers work. Time is a problem for him right now, but he hinted at being slightly more at ease shortly.
Speaking in the pre-match interview as quoted by the Express, here is what Pape Sarr had to say about his passion for Computer Science
“We’re a family – and maybe it does resemble a bit the way a computer works. I try to bring my football intelligence to the party and my view of the game. Computer science is what I want to do after my career. I’ve done research here and there but not formal studies because I don’t have time. Within the next year or two I’m going to.”
A genius on the field?
Under Ange Postecoglou as manager, Pape Sarr has shown his talent and proved to be one of our most important players. Antonio Conte did not give him as much time on the field, but Postecoglou’s leadership has proven that the midfielder is not just a computer genius, but also a genius on the field.
As much as Sarr wants to study Computer Science, he is more than a decent footballer. Spurs will be hoping he can continue in a Lilywhites shirt for a long time.
