Napoli looking to recruit Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski?
Napoli has recently shown interest in recruiting former Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte. This is not a surprise given how good of a coach he was for Spurs. Even though the parting was on a sour note, no one can deny his talent. It is being heard that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis knows a statement is needed after this season and is desperate to convince Antonio Conte to take on the job.
According to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb , Napoli has been long chasing Conte. They had turned to him following the sacking of Rudi Garcia before they eventually appointed Walter Mazzarri. The coach had refused to join mid season. He has also been out of work for the past year after his controversial exit from Tottenham Hotspur.
There is another reason behind recruiting Antonio Conte for Napoli. With this season ending, they hope to get Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski on their team. Napoli has thought of Kulusevski as a strong option for the transfer market. Additionally, they know the coach’s appreciation of the Swede, and think Deki will follow suit.
Is Kulusevski’s move a likely one?
The question of Kulusevski’s move is an unlikely one. Even though he has been linked to multiple clubs, he seems to have settled well in Tottenham Hotspurs. In his open letter he spoke of the struggles of being in a club that did not appreciate him. Those struggles has clearly ended after he joined Spurs.
Moreover, he seems to be very happy in Tottenham. With new coach Ange Postecoglou, he thinks he has someone who understands him. He even uses the Australian coach’s pep talks for the national team. Further, he has never shied away from publicly praising the coach.
Inspite of the rapport Deki has with Conte, the move seems far-fetched. Evidently, Kulusevski will not be a cheap purchase. However, Napoli is willing to spend a hefty amount on Antonio Conte. Therefore, they might also do the same for Dejan Kulusevski.

It is no secret that Antonio Conte and Dejan Kulusevski are close. However, it seems unlikely that Deki will give up his fame at Tottenham so easily. Napoli should definitely continue courting Antonio Conte. They have been doing so since October, and should bear the fruit of their hardwork. Moreover, Antonio Conte also deserves to have a win under his belt. But Kulusevski is an asset to Tottenham and Postecoglou won’t let him go so easy.
