Son Heung-min marks 400 appearances milestone for Tottenham Hotspur
Son Heung-min made South Koreans proud in mid-week as he marked a significant milestone in his time at Tottenham Hotspur in the club’s 1-1 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old made his 400th appearance for Tottenham Hotspur in a rain-soaked London Derby that the Lilywhites were expected to win going into the game.
On Tuesday at the London Stadium, Spurs’ skipper Son Heung-min played the entire ninety minutes but, for once, was unable to affect the outcome of the match as points were shared with David Moyes’ side. The North Londoners were unable to hold onto the lead they had taken in the fifth minute thanks to a Timo Werner cross that Brennan Johnson tapped in past Łukasz Fabiański. Though approaching the end of the first half, Kurt Zouma equalized for the hosts from a corner.
Despite the disappointment of the draw, it was a big day in South Korean football as Son Heung-min marked a massive milestone for the club as well as the player as he became only the 14th player to play 400 games for Spurs.
The player with the most appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, Steve Perryman (854), is followed in the list by two of Sonny’s former teammates. One is Harry Kane, the all-time leading goalscorer with 435 appearances, and the other is LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who left the team with 447 appearances.
Levy’s gift to mark Son’s milestone
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy presented the 31-year-old with a commemorative book to celebrate his 400 appearances for the club. The book has a comic drawing with Son Heung-min depicted as a superhero in a Tottenham shirt, while there are pictures of the South Korean enjoying multiple moments at the N17.
