Son Heung-min’s Historic Milestone, 400 Matches for Tottenham Hotspur
South Korean superstar Son Heung-min reached a massive milestone with Tottenham Hotspur in the club’s latest game against West Ham United on Tuesday. Despite the game ending in a draw, it was a historic day in Korean sports.
The Spurs skipper marked his 400th match for the Lilywhites in a rain-soaked 1-1 draw at the London Stadium against David Moyes’ side.
Son Heung-min played the whole ninety minutes but, for once, was unable to have an impact on the game as points were shared at the London Stadium on Tuesday. Spurs were unable to maintain their lead gained in the fifth minute via. a Brennan Johnson tap-in to a brilliant Timo Werner cross. West Ham defender Kurt Zouma equalized for the hosts from a corner at the end of the first half.
Tottenham Hotspur weren’t able to capitalize in the second half despite having the majority of possession, as the 31-year-old registered only one shot on target all game. It was a disappointing outing for Ange Postecoglou’s side, as they couldn’t take advantage of an opportunity to walk into a traditional top-four position.
Lo Celso acknowledging Son’s milestone
Despite it being a disappointing night, it was a big one for Lilywhite’s skipper, as this marks a milestone appearance for him after joining the club in 2015 in from Bayer Leverkusen to become the most expensive Asian player in football history.
His achievement was acknowledged by his club teammate Giovani Lo Celso, who uploaded pictures of the pair on his Instagram story with a congratulatory message to the 31-year-old.
