Richarlison set for rest against Nottingham Forest due to knee niggle
Richarlison is set to be rested this weekend, as Tottenham Hotspur are set to host former boss Nuno Espírito Santo on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou & Co. are set to be without Richarlison for the game against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, although fears of an injury to Brennan Johnson have been alleviated as he prepares to face his boyhood club.
Owing to a knee issue, the Brazilian forward has started the last three games for the Lilywhites from the bench, and the 26-year-old is set to be given this weekend off to help heal a knee injury he has been carrying. Speaking about the former Everton star who barely recovered to represent his nation in last month’s international break, the Tottenham manager revealed that Richy is going to miss this weekend’s fixture owing to “a bit of a niggle” in his knee.
However, despite missing out on Sunday’s game, Richarlison shouldn’t be on the sidelines for too long as the North London Whites are scheduled to play Newcastle United again in the upcoming week. Although if the discomfort in his knee were to continue, it implies that Brennan Johnson will face off against Dejan Kulusevski, Timo Werner, and Son Heung-min for a starting lineup spot against Eddie Howe’s side.
What did Ange Postecoglou say about Richy’s injury?
When asked about the latest team news and the well-being of Brennan Johnson, Ange Postecoglou went on to speak about the Welshman and Richarlison, he said (via. Football. London):
“Brennan is fine. He’s no problem. The only one is Richy. He’s had a bit of a niggle with his knee these last few weeks. We kind of feel it’s best he takes his weekend off and gets ready for Newcastle next, but everyone else is fine.”

Richarlison has found his feet under the Australian’s tutelage; he was under massive pressure to deliver well coming into the season, and that’s exactly what he has done. The Brazilian has done exactly that, with a double-figure goal-scoring tally of ten and three assists to accompany that.
The Tottenham faithful will be hoping that there is nothing serious with Richy and that he gets fit going into the Newcastle game.
