Jamie Carragher uses Tottenham Hotspur’s example to send a warning to Arsenal

Jamie Carragher believes Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal is dangerously close to becoming Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham. Just like Tottenham at that time Arteta’s Gunners are very close to failing at the cusp of success.

They were first in the league but they bottled their lead by dropping two points against Aston Villa this past week. More recently, they lost against Bayern Munich and were knocked out of the Champions League.

Arteta’s men were looking good last week. Now they might not win anything at all. Jamie Carragher is scared on behalf of the Gunners who are about to grossly underachieve. Here’s what he wrote on the Telegraph. (h/t The Daily Mail)

“Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in danger of becoming Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs; a side to be admired for nearly being great,’ Carragher wrote. “

However, Carragher indicated that both Arteta and Pochettino deserve more praise for contending with the teams they had. Mikel has presented Arsenal’s strongest team in a lot of years.

Pochettino always had his moment of almost being great when he finished second in the 2016/17 season. This season Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League at the time of writing. They are 3 behind Aston Villa but the Lilywhites have a game in hand.

Ange Postecoglou‘s sign is also showing good signs in his first season. If the team can make the right moves this summer, they’ll have a good chance of doing damage next season.

Postecoglou's project looks promising.
