Romano reveals release clause hike for Tottenham-linked midfielder who can replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at N17

Spurs eye Fuhrich as midfield reinforcement

Tottenham Hotspur have recently been subject to links with German midfielder Chris Fuhrich, and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provides an update on the release clause of Stuttgart’s maestro going into the summer window.

There is a dire need for a new midfielder at N17 this off-season as the club looks to build on the progress that the North Londoners have made under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage last season. They will not only be looking to improve on the ceiling of the roster at the Australian’s disposal but also to add depth to the squad, corroborating that they have the strength in numbers to compete effectively across all competitions.

Moreover, the Lilywhites will also be looking to replace the outgoing Giovanni Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, two depth-adding midfielders who have been linked with moves away from White Hart Lane this summer.

The latest update by Fabrizio Romano discloses that the 26-year-old’s release clause at Stuttgart Arena has been raised from €23 million to €26 million after his call-up to the Germany squad for the upcoming European Championship.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Fabrizio wrote:

“Understand release clause into Chris Führich contract is now worth €26 million instead of €23 million after 26-year-old winger has been called for the Euros. Bayern keep monitoring him closely; he’s in the list as one of the next names after Palhinha, top priority.”

Kicker acknowledged in a recent report that the player is leaning towards having a future with Bayern Munich. The German midfielder, when asked about Bayern rumors recently, said, “I’m obviously happy about it and proud of it.” This shows his love for Bayern, and it will be an uphill battle for Spurs to convince him of a White Hart Lane move.
