Hojbjerg seeks Spurs exit after limited role under Postecoglou
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will be willing to sanction a move for midfielder Peirre-Emile Hojbjerg for a fee of around £17 million this summer transfer window, per former Spurs defender turned pundit Alan Hutton.
The North Londoners acquired the former Bayern Munich midfielder from Southampton in 2020 for £15 million following his impressive performances for the Saints when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Hotspur Way. He has been an integral presence around White Hart Lane since, albeit losing his place in the starting eleven under Ange Postecoglou in the recently concluded campaign.
With minutes hard to come by under his belt, the Danish maestro is looking for a possible Lilywhites exit in the ongoing summer transfer window. The 28-year-old only made eight Premier League starts in the last campaign, despite making a further 28 outings from the bench.
Hutton on Hojbjerg’s potential exit
Alan Hutton acknowledges what the maestro brings to the table; however, he suggests that moving on would be an ideal decision for all parties involved. The former Spurs defender also suggests his beliefs towards the £17 million tag that the North Londoners are demanding for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
In an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Hutton said:
“I think that’s a fair price. He’s been used sparingly, but I think he is a decent player if you need that combative midfielder who is going to get around the pitch. I just think sometimes, with the way that Spurs play because they want to play with pace, moving the ball quickly to get high up the pitch, and be aggressive, I’m not 100 percent sure he fits into that.”
“We can see that by the number of games that he plays, he only comes in as and when he is needed. For him to move on, I think that would suit him, and I think that’s a decent enough fee for him.”
