Bryan King insists Tottenham can still sign West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham Hotspur News, ex-scout Bryan King has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could end up signing West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen but doesn’t see anyone spending £150million for him.
The English winger currently on international duty with the Three Lions is regarded as one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League. He continually chips in with goals and assists for the Hammers and is easily their most influential player.
The 27-year-old English winger has appeared 202 times for the club so far, scoring 60 goals and providing 39 assists. Last season, he made 44 appearances, scoring 20 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
Currently entering the prime years of his career, Bowen has shown enough promise to earn a high-profile move to a big club in the imminent future. He has outgrown West Ham as a player but the club are making it difficult to let him leave.
Speaking about Bowen and his future at the club, here is what Bryan King had to say about Tottenham’s chances of signing him
“No one would pay that kind of money for Bowen. Spurs could probably buy Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney for that figure. This is a fantasy story. However, you can’t rule out Bowen ever making the move to Tottenham. Jimmy Greaves went to West Ham and Martin Peters went to Tottenham. You don’t get bigger names than that. If those two can make the move, there is no reason why Bowen couldn’t.”
As King has mentioned, no club would want to pay this kind of money for Bowen. If a club goes ahead and pulls the trigger, it would represent a very hasty decision and Tottenham must not be doing something like this.
Spurs currently have Dejan Kulusevski on the right wing with Brennan Johson providing backup. However, the former has struggled to recapture the kind of form he showed when he joined the club and the latter is also capable of playing on the left wing.
At the right fee, Bowen is a signing Spurs should be looking to make. He is versatile, and direct and can perfectly fit in the system that Ange Postecoglou likes to deploy. However, we mustn’t be going to all ends to make this happen.

Until West Ham budge on their asking price, Tottenham are unlikely to make a move for the winger. It remains to be seen if there are any developments on this front going forward.
