Tottenham exit looms large for Pierre-Emile Hojbjergas Italian giants circle

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a North London exit in the summer transfer window as the Dane maestro has struggled to secure regular playing time under Ange Postecoglou.

The North Londoners signed the 28-year-old midfielder in 2020 in a £15 million deal from Southampton following his impressive performances at St Mary’s when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Hotspur Way. He has been an integral presence at the heart of Spurs midfield over the years; however, he couldn’t replicate the same under Ange Postecoglou in the recently concluded season.

AC Milan and Inter Milan battle for Hojbjerg’s signature

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could be looking to call Italy his home this summer.

Hojbjerg’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur is approaching its conclusion, as the club is open to offers for the Danish midfielder this summer. After four years at White Hart Lane, Hojbjerg has attracted significant interest from Serie A, with both AC Milan and Inter Milan considering moves for the 28-year-old. This interest comes as Milan finalizes their deal for Emerson Royal, another Spurs player.

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that AC Milan has been interested in Hojbjerg for some time and is now joined by their city rivals Inter Milan, setting the stage for a potential transfer battle between the two. Both clubs are exploring the feasibility of bringing Hojbjerg on board, drawn by his experience and skill set that he has demonstrated in the Premier League and previously at Bayern Munich.

Spurs have set a €15 million asking price for Hojbjerg, a figure that seems reasonable for both Milan clubs given the quality he could bring to their squads. However, Hojbjerg’s current salary of €3.3 million could pose a challenge, potentially necessitating negotiations for a reduced wage to facilitate a move. Both Milan clubs are prepared to engage in discussions to convince Hojbjerg to adjust his salary expectations, highlighting their keen interest in integrating him into their respective teams for the upcoming season.
