Tottenham Hotspur establish contact for Desire Doue’s signing from Rennes this summer
Tottenham Hotspur have signed one of England’s most sought-after youngsters in Archie Gray as they saw off competition from Aston Villa and Brentford to sign him from Leeds United.
The club is preparing a long-term rebuild and is fully expected to back Ange Postecoglou in the ongoing transfer window, with a number of more signings already on the cards.
Spurs are expected to sign a striker and central defender, but as per TeamTALK, the opportunity to sign one of the Ligue 1’s most prominent youngsters, Desire Doue, has also been identified.
The teenager, currently on the books of Rennes, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the French outfit last year as he scored four goals and provided six assists in all competitions.
Doue is a versatile attacking midfielder, who is also capable of featuring on either flank, therefore making him a very attractive candidate for Tottenham Hotspur for the future.
Spurs’ options in the final third are very limited, with Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski the only consistent performers, although the South Korean is already past the 30-year-old mark.
Doue’s valuation on Transfermarkt stands at £27 million, however, it is expected that the Premier League giants will need to offer close to £50 million in order to convince Rennes to sell the player.
It is still unclear whether or not the Lilywhites will be ready to spend that kind of money on Doue, especially with a number of other positions needing a revamp with greater urgency.
