James Maddison is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison has endured a strong campaign under Ange Postecoglou. The England international came under a lot of scrutiny in the early parts if the season for inconsistent performances, but he has took that into his stride and evolved his game brilliantly.
The 28-year-old has become a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s setup and slotted in effectively in the heart of the midfield. It has been a season to forget for Spurs, as they sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table. But James Maddison has been one of the very few bright spots for the Lilywhites this season. He is the only creative midfielder in the club’s ranks and Big Ange has relied on the Spurs No.10 heavily to create chances.

The ex-Leicester City player has also played a crucial role in helping Spurs reach the Europa League semi-finals. The 28-year-old threw his body on the line to win a penalty for the Lilywhites in the previous round of the competition against Eintracht Frankfurt. That proved to be important as Dominic Solanke converted from the spot and helped the club reach the semis. Maddison also managed to get on the scoresheet in the semi-finals against Bodo/Glimt, ensuring his side won the game comfortably.
Tottenham will not sell James Maddison
Tottenham’s star midfielder James Maddison has been ruled out with an injury and it is possible that the England international will directly be back for the new campaign. There are also reports that link the 28-year-old with a move away from Tottenham in the summer.
But Paul Robinson believes that Spurs will not sell the midfielder. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson has said,
“I think if a new manager came in next season, he didn’t play many games between now and next January, then there’s a conversation to be had. But I think with him being injured, you’ll do well to get the type of money that Tottenham would want for him. So I think James Maddison is going to be a Tottenham player for at least another year.”
Paul Robinson suggested that Spurs will not sell James Maddison with a new manager coming in for next season. However, the former Spurs player pointed out that if Maddison does not feature regularly at the start of next season, then there will be a possibility of the 28-year-old getting sold next summer. Robinson again reiterated that the ex-Leicester player would be at N17 for at least another year before any decision is made.
