Tottenham to pass on opportunity to sign Champions League winning German international

Tottenham are highly unlikely to trigger the buy option in Timo Werner’s loan deal from RB Leipzig
Tottenham Hotspur are set to embrace a critical summer, as chairman Daniel Levy looks to make some tough decisions to rebuild the squad after a forgettable Premier League season.
In recent transfer windows, the North Londoners have not only brought in highly regarded players to the club but also ensured that the surplus at White Hart Lane is cleared off. Fans will expect something similar from Daniel Levy and his team this summer as well. Before moving onto getting new players, the club chiefs must first shred the squad by offloading the fringe and underperforming players.
Timo Werner re-signed for Tottenham on loan from RB Leipzig in July 2024 after a decent second half of 2023/24 campaign. Ange Postecoglou felt the German forward would be a good backup option to have in his squad in case of an injury and urged the club to bring him back to N17.

However, that was a massive error in judgement, with the left-sided forward not proving himself to be good enough to compete a high level. He has barely been productive for the Lilywhites, failing to supply the goods with his poor end product and decision-making in the final third. Ange seems to have run of patience with Timo Werner, who hasn’t made an appearance for Tottenham since late February.
Ange recently confirmed that Werner remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. As a result, Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham thinks the 29-year-old has already played his last game for the club and has no future at White Hart Lane.
“I don’t see Werner featuring again this season,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He isn’t even registered for the Europa League final, and he’s not going to play against Brighton on the last day of the season.
“I don’t see a future for Werner at Tottenham at all, and I imagine he will already be packing his bags.”

Werner’s wretched time at Tottenham looks very much over. He has no future in our famous white shirt after enjoying only 70 minutes of Premier League action since December. In fact, the Germany international’s erratic decision making, poor finishing and chronic inconsistency did not warrant the Lilywhites to sign him on loan again.

When players are operating at the best of their ability and producing consistent performances at 29, Werner looks well past his prime and is someone who cannot continue at Spurs. Interestingly, the ex-Chelsea man who won the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge still doesn’t lack suitors in the Premier League, with Fulham reportedly keen on his services.
