‘Struggling’ Tottenham Hotspur star to stay put amid summer exit speculation

Richarlison could stay put at Tottenham Hotspur as Everton pull out of transfer race
Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has struggled to get going at N17 ever since his arrival from Everton in 2022. The Brazil international has struggled to stay fit this season and that has costed him a place in the starting eleven. The 28-year-old has also fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou and he is now considered to play second fiddle to last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke.
The Spurs No.9 arrived at Hotspur Way after a successful stint at Goodison Park. Richarlison had quickly made a name for himself at the Merseyside club and became a fan favourite there. When Tottenham signed him, a lot of fans questioned the direction that the club was heading towards due to the high amount of money involved in the deal. For context, the Lilywhites had signed the forward for around £60m.

In hindsight, it is fair to say that the deal did not work out well for all involved. Everton have struggled to replace Richarlison ever since he moved to N17 in 2022. Whereas, Spurs have also not managed to get the best out of the Brazilian forward in all this time. As per Sofascore, the 28-year-old has only managed to score 20 goals and provide nine assists in 88 games for the Lilywhites in three seasons.
Richarlison has no intentions of leaving Tottenham for Everton
Tottenham need to shuffle the squad and many key players are expected to head for the exit doors once the season ends. It was reported earlier that Everton were interested in signing Richarlison in the summer and were willing to pay a good fee for his services. The aforementioned report had also suggested that Spurs were willing to let the Brazilian leave for a suitable offer.
But now, there is a new twist in the transfer sage involving the 28-year-old. As per RTI Esporte, Richarlison has decided to stay at Spurs for next season and revive his career at N17. The prolific forward wants to play at a top club and believes that playing for the Lilywhites will help him get selected for Brazil’s World Cup Squad in 2026.
This has put a serious dent on Tottenham’s transfer plans in the upcoming transfer window. The Lilywhites had already started looking for potential attackers to buy to bolster the quality of the forward line. Spurs are forced to adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy after enduring a disastrous season. So, the North London club will need to move Richarlison on in the summer to afford new signings.

Tottenham are said to be interested in signing a new striker to compete with Dominic Solanke. It was reported earlier that the North London club were linked with a move for Brentford star Yoane Wissa in the summer. But that deal looks to be in danger as Richarlison has decided to stay at the club and fight for his place in the starting eleven.
