€80m Bundesliga star open to summer move; Tottenham Hotspur remain keen

Tottenham are keen on signing ‘explosive’ RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons
Tottenham Hotspur have given themselves a perfect platform to kickstart a new era at N17 next season. The Lilywhites managed to overcome all the odds and win the Europa League this season. Ange Postecoglou’s men beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final and ensured the North London club ended a 17-year wait for a major trophy as well. Winning the competition also ensured that Ange’s men would play Champions League football next season.
However, it is vital that Spurs do not get complacent from here on heading into the transfer window. The Lilywhites need to bring in reinforcements in the summer to bolster the quality of the squad and add more squad depth. Ange’s men have struggled in the midfield department this season due to inconsistent performances and several injuries to key players.

Also, Spurs just have one creative midfielder in their ranks that could open opposition defences during a game. James Maddison has been under a lot of pressure this season to put in consistent performances week in week out as Ange’s men have relied heavily on the England international to create chances for the team. The Spurs No.10’s injury issues have not helped the club’s cause either.
Tottenham interested in landing RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons in the summer
Tottenham are looking to bring in a prolific midfielder in the summer that could bolster the quality of the squad going forward. With James Maddison being the only one in the squad that could create chances for his teammates, Daniel Levy has been forced to enter the transfer market for a new creative midfielder to compete with Englishman next season.
As per Fichajes, Spurs are interested in landing Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig. The Netherlands international is open for a move in the summer after joining the Bundesliga giants on a permanent deal last summer. The lack of European football next season for RB Leipzig would prove to be a key factor that could drive Simons away from the German club in the summer.
The aforementioned report also states that Leipzig will demand a hefty price for the 22-year-old. It is believed that the German club have set a €80m asking price for the Dutchman and would not accept a penny less in the summer. Simons still has two years left in his deal, so the German club are in no hurry to sell the talented player in the upcoming transfer window.
If Tottenham manage to land Xavi Simons in the summer, then it would certainly be a step in the right direction. The Lilywhites first need to sell players so that they can afford the 22-year-old. Signing Simons would mean that James Maddison would not be guaranteed a place in the starting eleven. The England international would then be expected to fight for his place and prove his worth week in week out.

However, it is fair to say Simons would be an ideal fit for Spurs. The Dutchman can either play as a number eight, or as a left-winger. He is effective on the left side of the pitch and can create chances out of nothing for his teammates. The 22-year-old also possesses a great passing range and likes to shoot from distance when given the chance. Simons also tends to thrive in a high-pressing team and he is effective in regaining possession in the final third of the pitch.
