“50/50”- Fans divided as Tottenham stars make up their mind on Ange Postecoglou’s future

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is still facing an uncertain future at N17
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou managed to achieve an astonishing feat against all odds this season. The Australian delivered on his promise of winning a trophy in his second season in spectacular fashion after beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final. The Lilywhites also ended a 17-year wait for a major trophy after managing to get over the line on Wednesday night.
Big Ange’s job was on the line before the game and he would have been sacked had Tottenham not won the final against the Red Devils. The North London club has endured a dismal Premier League campaign under the Australian and at one point, there was a real disconnect between the fans and the Spurs manager. But it is fair to say that Ange Postecoglou has the fans back on his side now after ending the season on a high.

It was reported earlier that Daniel Levy was going to sack Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season, irrespective of the outcome in the Europa League final. But the Spurs chairman will now have to think long and hard before making this decision, as the fans and the players clearly believe in the ex-Celtic boss to turn the club’s fortunes around.
Ange Postecoglou retains the backing of Tottenham players and supporters
Tottenham’s trophy parade on Friday was a sight for sore eyes. The Lilywhites enjoyed a historic occasion and celebrated their Europa League success. There was a clear connection between the Spurs players and the fans. But it was Ange Postecoglou who received the loudest cheer of the evening from the Tottenham faithful. The Australian also hinted at extending his stay beyond this season during his victory speech.
Now, John Wenham has reiterated that the fans and the players back Big Ange to continue his project next season. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“I know a lot of Tottenham fans are now behind Postecoglou and want him to be given an extended contract. I was out in Bilbao, and that is what a lot of fans were saying. However, there are also those who still think he needs to be replaced. For the entire club, this is a massive summer. It is clear that the players are 100 per cent behind Postecoglou, and I think it is 50/50 what is going to happen.”

John Wenham suggested that a lot of Tottenham fans are still backing Ange Postecoglou and want the Australian to extend his stay at N17 for the foreseeable future. The Lilywhites Rose owner then insisted that a lot of fans in Bilbao also backed Big Ange but there were a few that still wanted a new manager for next season. But Wenham then said that the players are still backing the Australian and no one knows what the future holds for the ex-Celtic boss.
Daniel Levy must get the managerial decision right in the summer. The Lilywhites need to build on the Europa League success and invest heavily in the squad. It is clear to see that the fans and the players back Ange Postecoglou to do well next season, so Levy will have to take a tough call regarding the Australian’s future.

Spurs are linked heavily with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and former Ajax manager Francesco Farioli to replace Ange Postecoglou at the helm. Now, Levy must decide whether to proceed with negotiations for either of these managers, or to stay put and have faith in Big Ange to turn the club’s fortunes around next season.
