Eberechi Eze is still open to swap Crystal Palace for Tottenham in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur managed to exceed all expectations and win the Europa League final on Wednesday night. The Lilywhites ended a 17-year wait for a major trophy after beating Manchester United in Bilbao. Winning the competition also ensured Champions League qualification for the North London club next season after a dismal domestic campaign.

But the Europa League success might just paper over the cracks as Spurs have struggled to perform in the Premier League. Many players have underperformed as Ange Postecoglou’s men sit 17th in the league table. A massive squad overhaul is needed in the summer if the Lilywhites want to close the gap on their rivals and compete at the higher end of the table.

Due to the poor league position this season, Spurs will need to adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy in the summer as they look to shuffle the squad for next season. The North London club needs to cash in on underperforming players quickly if they want to bring in new signings. Fans will hope that Daniel Levy does not get complacent heading into the transfer window as the Lilywhites cannot afford any more mistakes in recruitment.

Tottenham get a massive boost in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to improve their attack for next season. Club captain Heung-Min Son has endured a tough individual campaign and it looks like the 32-year-old is past his best now. Also, Timo Werner is heading for the exit doors for pastures new once the season ends. So, Spurs need to bring in a new player to bolster the quality of the squad in the summer.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in the summer. The England international has quickly become a fan favourite at Selhurst Park after scoring the historic goal to seal Palace’s win in the FA Cup Final against Man City. The aforementioned report had also suggested that Palace value Eze at £68m and would not sell him for a penny less.

Now, Tottenham have received a massive boost in their efforts to land the 26-year-old. As per Football Insider, Eberechi Eze is still determined to leave Palace for pastures new amid Tottenham links. The Eagles secured European qualification after securing the FA Cup trophy, but that will not make affect Eze’s decision making as he wants to test himself in a new environment.

Spurs must act quick if they want to sign the Palace star in the summer. Signing Eberechi Eze would mean that Heung-Min Son would lose his place in the starting eleven. It would also mean that James Maddison will not be relied upon heavily to create chances for Ange’s men. It is fair to say that the England international would be a perfect fit for the Lilywhites as well.

The 26-year-old tends to operate either as a number eight, or as a left-winger. He also tends to create chances from deep and likes to carry the ball into the final third while inviting pressure. This opens up space for his teammates to score a goal. His ball-striking is second to none and Eze tends to enter the box by darting in late and positioning himself effectively for grounded crosses.
