Tottenham Hotspur are looking to quickly wrap up three deals to kickoff their summer transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur are heading into the summer having ended their 17-year wait for silverware, thanks to Brennan Johnson’s first half goal in the UEFA Europa League final victory over Manchester United in Bilbao last week.

Spurs are striving to compound on their recruitment strategy of signing highly-regarded prospects and unlocking their potential through the corridors of N17. They aim to develop a squad that can effectively continue an attacking, pressing brand of football in the coming years, while also addressing immediate gaps to prepare for their return to the Champions League.

Football Insider senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Tottenham are expected to strengthen at centre-back, central midfield and in attack this summer. Last week, Ange Postecoglou shed light on the transfer recruitment, explaining that he wants experienced players who have played in the Champions League before, as well as players who would be quality squad options.

Qualification to the Champions League should bring in a solid financial windfall, boosting the club’s spending power in the forthcoming summer transfer window. That should allow Tottenham to spend big this summer, and according to reliable journalist Dean Jones, the North Londoners are now pushing to get three transfer deals done.

Dean Jones says Tottenham have upped their ante to sign Mathys Tel permanently from Bayern Munich, whilst planning to bring in LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes and Real Betis enforcer Johnny Cardoso.

“They are pressing ahead in negotiations for Mathys Tel and are also looking to close out agreements for Johnny Cardoso and Angel Gomes. All of this is happening while serious internal conversations are unfolding about Ange Postecoglou’s future. Sunday night in London saw key decision-makers discussing whether to stick or twist with the manager,” Jones explained on the Ranks FC Ultras Patreon page.

Tottenham have been unsure over whether to trigger the €60m buy option in Mathys Tel’s clause. But as recently reported by reliable German journalists Christian Falk and Tobias Altschaffl, the North Londoners could get him for €40m. Ange Postecoglou also wants to keep hold of Tel, and as per Jones, it looks like Spurs and Bayern may have come to a middle ground over a fee.

Angel Gomes and Johnny Cardoso, two prime targets, would undoubtedly improve the current squad at Ange’s disposal. Cardoso has enjoyed a fantastic season with Real Betis, helping them book a UEFA Europa Conference League final against Chelsea in Warsaw on Wednesday evening. He’d add a lot of physicality and tenacity to the Spurs midfield, whilst providing much-needed balance.

Gomes, who has confirmed he will leave Lille on a free transfer in June, will improve the technical flooring of the Tottenham squad. He can operate in multiple positions across the midfield unit, so our gaffer could use the diminutive Englishman as an option to compete with James Maddison next season.

All in all, the permanent signing of Tel, along with the captures of Cardoso and Gomes, would represent a rollicking start to Tottenham’s summer transfer window.
