Tottenham star James Maddison is enjoying silencing his critics after UEL success

Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison was quite unfortunate to miss out on the Europa League final after suffering a long-term injury. But there is nothing to take away from the England international’s contributions as he helped the Lilywhites reach within touching distance of the trophy. The 28-year-old played a strong part in securing a place in the final after registering important goal contributions along the way in previous rounds.

The ex-Leicester City star enjoyed a stellar second part of the season under Ange Postecoglou. The Spurs No.10 also hit double digits in goals and assists to help the North London club end the season on a high. As per Sofascore, Maddison bagged 12 goals and provided 10 assists in just 45 games this season. It is fair to say that the Englishman showed his potential when it mattered the most.

Simon Jordan has continued his war of words with Tottenham star James Maddison.

The attacking midfielder’s latest goal contribution for Ange’s side came in the first leg of Europa League semi-final clash against Bodo/Glimt. He got on the scoresheet in the second half and ensured that the Lilywhites cruised past the Norwegian club at home. It is fair to say that Maddison deserves to flaunt his winners’ medal as he has done enough to warrant his place in the club’s history books.

Simon Jordan slams into Tottenham star James Maddison with brutal verdict

Tottenham players have been loving life in recent days after securing the Europa League trophy last week. The Lilywhites registered a historic win against Manchester United and ended the 17-year wait for a major trophy. Star midfielder James Maddison did not waste any time in calling out his critics after the memorable triumph in Bilbao.

One of the many pundits that Maddison called out was Simon Jordan. Well, it is clear to see that the talkSPORT host did not take it well and jumped on to criticise the Spurs No.10. Speaking on the talkSPORT (via X), Simon Jordan said,

“The ultimate Maddison effect is that you win things with James Maddison and your team gets relegated. Perhaps if he would have been available for Spurs more this season then they might have got relegated. They did their best to try to do that.”

Simon Jordan took no prisoners and gave a brutal verdict on James Maddison while talking about Tottenham’s achievement. The pundit suggested that a club can win trophies with Maddison in the squad but they will end up getting relegated. Jordan also went on to suggest that Spurs would have been relegated from the Premier League had the England international been available for more games this season.

The Tottenham fans will surely not take this jab from Simon Jordan lightly. It was unnecessary and truth be told, it sounded petty. But one thing is very clear… James Maddison will take this in his stride and perform better next season as Spurs will look to build on their Europa League success. The 28-year-old often gets involved in such war of words due to his outgoing personality. But it is always in good spirit as he tends to remind people that he is still an impactful player.

Now, the ex-Leicester star will hope that he can recover quickly and continue his good form in front of goal for Ange Postecoglou’s men. It was reported earlier that Maddison was on his way out in the summer as Manchester City were interested in signing him. But it seems increasingly likely that the 28-year-old will stay at N17 next year and help Spurs compete for major trophies.
