Tottenham urged to pull out all stops to land 29-year-old English international

TalkSPORT pundit urges Tottenham to make move for Man City winger Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish is expected to leave Manchester City this summer amid interest from Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur need quality players in the summer to enjoy a better campaign than 2024/25 season.

The North Londoners beat Manchester United to win the UEFA Europa League last week against all odds after enduring a disastrous domestic campaign. Winning the competition also ensured Champions League football for next season, providing the club with cash influx to spend in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

It is clear to see Spurs require a quality winger to bolster their attacking unit. A left-winger has to be prioritised, with Son Heung-min past his prime, Richarlison linked with an exit and Timo Werner set to depart after the expiry of his loan spell next month. Manchester City star Jack Grealish has been linked with a move to N17 in recent weeks and months, as the Lilywhites aim to sign a proven winger that could add a different dynamic to their attack next season.

The most expensive player in Premier League history when he joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021, Jack Grealish has gone into obscurity at the Etihad Stadium, making just seven Premier League starts this past season. He was an unused substitute in the FA Cup final, as Man City lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace earlier this month.

The England international’s market value has tumbled and he looks increasingly likely to leave the Sky Blues this summer. Now, former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara has urged the North Londoners to make a move for Grealish, who was not included in the City’s squad for their final Premier League game against Fulham.

“Listen, I’d have him at Tottenham. I love him, I think Jack’s brilliant. I think he’s a good player. I really like him,” Jamie O’Hara said on talkSPORT.

Grealish to Spurs? Hutton sees potential despite financial hurdles
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish

Ange Postecoglou recently admitted that he wants the club to recruit experienced and Champions League proven players who can come into Spurs and hit the ground running. Spurs’ transfer philosophy in recent years have been youth-oriented, but if they are to be competitive in the Champions League next season, they must recruit experienced players who can lift the squad with their winning pedigree and mentality.

Despite his stock tumbling in the last couple of seasons, Grealish fits the category of players Ange wants Daniel Levy to recruit. At 29, the ex-Aston Villa skipper is still in the peak of powers and could be extra motivated to prove himself at a different Premier League club. He’d bring quality, flair and creativity to Ange’s side, whilst being a solid option to potentially replace Son in the squad.

However, his £300,000-per-week wages are expected to be a problem with regard to Tottenham’s ability to finance a move away from City. If Grealish can take a big wage cut, there is no reason why we should not pursue a move for him.
