“I don’t think”- Tottenham urged to retain club legend amid strong Saudi links

Tottenham winger Heung-Min Son might head for pastures new in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur winger Heung-Min Son finally managed to win his first major trophy with the club last month. The South Korean international has been an ever-present at N17 since joining the club in 2015. And he finally managed to get his hands on silverware while donning the Lilywhite jersey as Ange’s men beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.
The 32-year-old has gone through a lot of ups and downs during his time in North London. From nearly missing out on winning the Premier League in his first season at the club, to losing the Champions League final against Liverpool in 2019. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen winger has seen it all while playing for the Lilywhites.

However, the Spurs No.7 got his happy ending as the North London club defied all odds and won the Europa League this season. Heung-Min Son was already a club legend in the eyes of many fans, but captaining Tottenham to European silverware cemented his name in the club’s history books forever.
Tottenham legend Heung-Min Son is linked with a Saudi move in the summer
A lot of changes are expected at Tottenham following the historic Europa League win. The Lilywhites are preparing to kickstart a new era at N17 and want to cash in on some key players to bring in new signings for next season. One of the players that is linked with a move away from the club is prolific winger Heung-Min Son. The South Korean is heavily linked with a Saudi move after winning his first major trophy with the club.
Spurs are under no pressure to sell the 32-year-old as he recently signed a new contract extension. And ex-player Paul Robinson has also urged the club to retain Son for next season. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said,
“I think he’s still got a huge value on the side with his experience at Champions League level as well. You see his numbers last season as well. I don’t think there’s a case to sell him. Obviously, they extended his contract. I think he’s a big part of the club, and that will be a part of the way when I think he decides that he wants to move on.”

The ex-Spurs player added,
“I don’t think the club would force a move for him. He’s into his last 12 months, and if a massive offer comes in, that’s a decision that the club are going to have to make. I think his value to the team and progressing the team this season in the Premier League and in the Champions League outweighs any kind of offer they can get for him with only 12 months left on his deal.”
Paul Robinson suggested that Heung-Min Son’s experience in the Champions League will help Tottenham in more ways than one next season. The ex-player added that Spurs will not force a move for him as he is a big part of the club and has recently signed a contract extension. Robinson also insisted that the South Korean’s value to the team will outweigh any offers presented to the North London club in the summer for his services.

Fans will hope that Heung-Min Son decides to stay put in the summer and help the club build on the Europa League success next season. However, the Lilywhites will know this summer might be the last chance for the club to recoup some cash from the South Korean’s sale. Selling the 32-year-old might not be the worst decision, as Spurs could easily invest that money in signing quality replacements for long-term gains.
