Club World Cup axe fails to dishearten Thomas Frank; Dane pushing Tottenham to land 29-year-old who can replace Son

New Tottenham boss Thomas Frank wants to work with Manchester City winger Jack Grealish
Tottenham Hotspur have replaced Ange Postecoglou with Thomas Frank, and the club bosses are already looking at potential incomings for their new gaffer.
The Dane did an exceptional job across seven years with Brentford, and his astute tactical brain, management skills and ability to develop players led to Spurs hiring him to lead their project and change the club’s fortunes after a disastrous 2024/25 domestic season.
While they won the Europa League and subsequently qualified for the Champions League, the Premier League remains the Lilywhites’ bread and butter and Daniel Levy will want a vastly improved league season under Thomas Frank. But for that to happen, the Tottenham chairman has to provide Frank with the required tools to shape the squad in his own image.

Several players have been linked to Tottenham for weeks and months. One of those has been Manchester City winger Jack Grealish.
Jack Grealish fell out-of-favour at Manchester City this past season, with boss Pep Guardiola preferring the likes of Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush ahead of him in wide areas. He remained an unused substitute in the Sky Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final in May and has been axed from the Club World Cup squad.
The 29-year-old is set to leave the Etihad Stadium after four years as he will be desperate to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next summer’s World Cup. It is clear he has no future under Guardiola at Man City, who recently bolstered their attacking department with the acquisition of highly-rated playmaker Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
And now, according to an exclusive report from FootballTransfers, Thomas Frank has given Tottenham the green signal to pursue Grealish after holding extensive discussions with the decision-makers over the club’s key transfer targets. This has led to Spurs monitoring the winger’s situation in Manchester closely.

The England international is currently on eye-watering wages at City, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Tottenham over a potential deal. Matching his salary could disrupt the north London club’s wage structure, but it looks like Frank will push Levy to sign the City outcast.
This is because the Danish coach wants technically gifted, press-resistant players to lead his project, which makes Grealish’s profile a perfect fit, the aforementioned report adds.

Famous football commentator and analyst Ian Darke has urged Tottenham to sign Grealish as a potential replacement for Son Heung-min, who has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. The ex-Aston Villa man is a winner and experienced player who will definitely improve the Tottenham squad, whilst giving a different dimension to their attack. At 29, he still has a lot to offer at the highest level, and as the attacker fits the criteria of player Frank wants to work with in north London, Spurs must try bringing him to the club.
If Grealish is ready to take a hefty wage cut, Levy must make a statement by bringing him to Tottenham.
