Tottenham increasingly confident about signing Ghanian international after Bryan Mbeumo snub

Tottenham have had positive talks with the representatives of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo
New boss Thomas Frank is hoping to have an influence on Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer dealings as he looks to tweak the first-team squad which he inherited from his predecessor Ange Postecoglou.
The Danish tactician has to hit the ground running at Spurs and quickly win over the fans. For the moment, the Lilywhites appear focused on adding more firepower to their forward line. This has been evidenced by them pushing for a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with the North Londoners looking to reunite him with Thomas Frank.
Spurs, though, are not the only club interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo. Manchester United are also in the running and have already seen two bids rejected for the Cameroonian international, who was one of the most productive attacking players in the Premier League in 2024/25, scoring 20 goals and contributing seven assists in 38 games. The Red Devils are expected to come back with a new bid, with the player keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Amid the latest development, Tottenham have cooled their interest in Mbeumo and shifted their focus to another attacker from the Premier League. According to journalist Sebastien Vidal, Tottenham are ‘increasingly confident’ of getting a deal for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo across the line after being snubbed by Mbeumo. They have already ‘intensified talks’ with the player’s representatives.
Antoine Semenyo enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 season with Bournemouth, scoring 13 goals and chipping in with seven assists in all competitions. The 25-year-old built a strong partnership with the likes of Justin Kluivert, Dango Ouattara and Evanilson up front and helped the Cherries challenge for the European spots. The Ghanaian international sudden rise in stock has seen Bournemouth slap a £70 million price tag on his head to try and ward off potential suitors.
The Cherries will have to rebuild their squad this summer. They have sold Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and are on the verge of losing Milos Kerkez to Liverpool. Paris Saint-Germain want to wrap up a deal quickly for Illia Zabarnyi, so Andoni Iraola’s club are reluctant to let go Semenyo in a summer full of changes.

Meanwhile, Semenyo will likely want to test himself at a high level, and Tottenham could be the right move for him. They will be able to provide the African forward with Champions League football and the opportunity to fight for trophies. At 25, he could be a strong option to replace Son Heung-min whilst adding quality depth to the squad.
