Tottenham set to delay proceedings for new striker; outgoings play crucial factor

The number nine positions at Tottenham needs to be addressed quickly before pre-season commences

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy recently put out a bold statement stating that he wants the club to aim higher and win the Premier League and the Champions League. It is not as easy as it sounds to achieve that, and Levy must put his money where the mouth is to attain that. There is a reason that the Lilywhites have managed to win only two major trophies in the last two decades.

And it goes without saying that Daniel Levy’s incompetence to lead Spurs forward has put the North London club on a backfoot. Now, there is a clear need for the Lilywhites to bring in new players in the summer after the club endured a disastrous Premier League campaign last season. But Tottenham have still not managed to enter concrete talks with anyone despite being linked to several players.

The number nine position at N17 is something that the cub needs to address quickly. With Dominic Solanke being the only fit and firing striker in the team, Daniel Levy must look to bring in a new forward that could compete with the Englishman for a starting spot. It is clear that Richarlison is not good enough to do that, as the Brazilian has failed to replicate the form that he once showed during his time at Everton.

Tottenham not giving priority to new striker as other issues need to be addressed

Tottenham need to address a lot of issues in the summer before they can kickstart a new era at N17. There is a clear need for a new striker as Richarlison failed to provide cover for Dominic Solanke last season, and also fell down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. Many forwards are linked with a move to Hotspur Way, but it remains to be seen how Daniel Levy approaches the transfer window.

Now, Alasdair Gold has suggested that the club is looking to prioritise outgoings before thinking about bringing in replacements. Writing for Football.london, Gold said,

“Lange is likely to have plenty of non-Premier League talent on his list for Frank to sift through as well and whether they need to go for more than one new attacker depends on what happens with those at the club.”

The journalist added,

“Spurs’ attacking players did actually rack up some decent goal involvement numbers across the side when you total it all up. They just couldn’t keep the ball out at the other end. So I think due to numbers Spurs may well wait to see what happens with some players before committing to a second attacking signing, not including Tel.”

Alasdair Gold has suggested that Johan Lange is looking to sign non-Premier League talent and potential outgoings in the summer will only allow Tottenham to bring in a new forward. The journalist pointed out that the Spurs forwards put up good number last season and the actual on the pitch was the defence. So, Gold believes that the Lilywhites will sort out the future of some of the underperforming players first before shifting their focus on signing a new attacker for next season.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand in the summer. The prolific striker has made a name for himself in France, and Daniel Levy believes he is the perfect replacement of Richarlison as the club looks to build on the Europa League success next season.
