“Only increases scrutiny”- Tottenham chairman will be under pressure if new managerial appointment fails at N17

All eyes will be on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and Thomas Frank next season
A new dawn is on the horizon for Tottenham as they look to press the refresh button following the disastrous Premier League campaign. The Lilywhites finished the season just a place above the relegation zone, registering 22 losses along the way. Not only that, but they also failed to reach the 40-point mark. Some might also say that they were lucky to not enter a relegation scrap as the teams below them were not competitive.
However, the North London club did finish the campaign on a high by winning the Europa League. Ange Postecoglou’s men defied all odds and managed to end the club’s long-standing trophy drought. The Australian tactician walked the talk and delivered on his promise of winning a trophy in his second season.

Big Ange was adamant to continue his project at N17 following the Europa League success. The 59-year-old also announced during the trophy parade that ‘season three’ would be better than the previous two seasons combined. Yet, Daniel Levy saw otherwise and sacked the ex-Celtic boss just two weeks after the Historic achievement.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy hired Thomas Frank under questionable circumstances
Tottenham hired Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement earlier this month. The Danish tactician chose to leave a stable environment at Brentford just to test himself in a new environment at N17. It is fair to suggest that the 51-year-old has taken a huge risk to work under Daniel Levy as the fans will closely monitor each failure and highlight it.
Now, reliable journalist Alasdair Gold also believes that Daniel Levy has taken a huge risk by sacking Big Ange and appointing a new manager. Writing for Football.london, Gold said,
“I think Levy has only increased the scrutiny in this coming season with the decision to sack the first trophy winner the club has had in 17 years and also the chairman’s comments about that trophy not being enough as he wants to win the Premier League and Champions League. He and the club hierarchy need to be able to show that they did everything possible to help Frank succeed because the supporters are going to be watching closer than ever.”

Alasdair Gold believes that Daniel Levy will eventually face scrutiny this season after the club chairman decided to sack the manager that won Spurs their first major trophy in 17 years. Levy’s statements about the Europa League success not being enough and aiming to win bigger trophies will also be taken with a pinch of salt by the fans. Gold also believes that the Spurs chairman needs to back Thomas Frank and help him succeed so that the move to replace Big Ange can be justified.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Lilywhites under their newly appointed manager. Thomas Frank has made a good first impression at N17, and he is aiming to build on the Europa League success and make the club ‘serial winners’ in the coming years. To turn that into reality, the Danish tactician has urged the club to follow the same vision and believe in the same goals moving forward.
