Arsenal threaten to hijack Tottenham’s pursuit of 26-year-old English international

Arsenal have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
It looks like Tottenham Hotspur have been trumped by arch-rivals Arsenal to the signing of Brentford skipper Christian Norgaard.
Spurs have been discussing transfer targets with their new head coach Thomas Frank as they prepare for life back in the Champions League. As per reports, Thomas Frank was keen on reuniting with Norgaard at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having requested the board to sign the Brentford midfielder.
However, reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed on X that the 31-year-old has been given permission to travel to Arsenal for medical after the two London clubs had reached an agreement. If losing Norgaard to our bitterest rivals was a blow, the Gunners are planning to cause Tottenham more pain.

According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Arsenal are ready to rival Spurs for the signing of Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze. The Gunners’ sporting director Andrea Berta has held talks with one of the 26-year-old’s representatives over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium.
Tottenham were understood to be leading the race for the England international but it could now be a battle between two north London clubs to secure his signature. Eberechi Eze enjoyed an excellent last season, starring in their FA Cup winning campaign. After netting in the quarter-final and semi-final, he scored the winner against Manchester City in the FA Cup final as the Eagles lifted the first major trophy in their entire history.
Creative, versatile and Premier League proven, Eze, therefore, has entered the market as a highly coveted commodity. The Greenwich-born talent has a £68m release clause in his contract that runs until the summer of 2027, so any club wanting his services this summer will need to trigger it. Crystal Palace certainly would want his suitors to pay the full release clause in a bid to help their manager Oliver Glasner land a quality replacement before the new season begins in August.

Arsenal holding talks with Eze’s entourage is bad news for Tottenham. Project and squad wise, Mikel Arteta’s club are far ahead than Spurs, something that should irk our fans but they must accept the reality. They have finished second in the Premier League thrice in a row, which means Arteta is only a couple of quality additions away to complete his jigsaw and get his team to lift the league title.

Having already snatched Norgaard under our noses, Tottenham simply cannot afford to miss out on Eze to our North London adversaries. Them holding talks with a member of his camp is enough to ring warning bells for Daniel Levy, who now must accelerate the pursuit of the Palace ace to boost our squad.
