It’s all change at Tottenham Hotspur this summer with Thomas Frank replacing Ange Postecoglou at the helm despite the latter leading the club to their first trophy since 2008.

Spurs have already got their summer transfer window underway by signing loan pair Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel to permanent deals. Japanese defensive prospect Kota Takai is the next to arrive, while first-team players Fraser Forster and Sergio Reguilon will leave when their contracts expire on June 30.

The Hotspur Way also need to sort out the futures of players that are set to return to the club following their loan spells. One of them is George Abbott.

Daniel Levy and his team are set to loan out George Abbott again

While the likes of Luka Vuskovic and Jamie Donley enjoyed impressive loan spells away from Tottenham, George Abbott’s time at Notts County went under the radar. After initially featuring as a wing-back, the teenager became a regular in the Notts County midfield and massively impressed. His passing range, reading of the game and movement became crucial in dictating the tempo of games for Notts County.

Abbott also chipped in with five goals and six assists in 42 appearances from the base of the midfield, helping the League Two club in their promotion push. The Spurs academy kid, who has drawn comparisons with Manchester City star Jack Grealish, was being nominated for the League Two Player of the Year award.

Now, Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that the midfielder will be allowed to leave the North London club on loan again this season to get regular minutes under his belt to continue his development. But Spurs will only sanction a move if they feel a certain club guarantees him regular playing time.

Thomas Frank is expected to give George Abbott opportunities during pre-season

Of course, there is a possibility that the former England under-18 international would be handed chances to impress during the upcoming pre-season by the new Tottenham boss, before a concrete decision is taken over his future. Gold adds that if Abbott is involved in the first-team training and later handed minutes in the pre-season tour, one should not rule out the prospect of him catching Thomas Frank’s attention with his talent on and off the ball.

For a player who quickly became a regular at Notts County and managed 11 goal contributions from the base of their midfield during only his first taste of senior football, it is clear that Abbott is a rich talent. Our academy graduate would love to break into the senior side under Frank, but another loan move—this time in the Championship—should serve well in his growth.
