Juventus set to challenge Tottenham for Ligue 2 attacker who could replace Richarlison

Tottenham are set to face competition from Juventus for the signing of Lyon striker Georges Mikautadze
Thomas Frank will work closely with chairman Daniel Levy to get transfers across the line at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 51-year-old will want to strengthen every area of the pitch after Spurs’ struggles in the Premier League last season. The focus is expected to be in attack, as doubts are raised over Dominic Solanke.
Dominic Solanke became the most expensive signing of the North London club’s history when he joined from Bournemouth last summer. He was expected to fill the void left by the legendary Harry Kane but came up mightily short, netting only nine Premier League goals. The England international’s fellow forwards Richarlison and Son Heung-min also underperformed, especially the former whose injury concerns showed no signs of stopping.

Thus, there is a clear need to bring an upgrade on Richarlison, someone who would not only cover for Solanke but also keep him on toes throughout the campaign. With Richarlison heading for a potential exit in the summer, Daniel Levy must sign a quality replacement that would elevate the quality of Tottenham’s attack.
It was reported earlier this week that Tottenham are leading the race for the signing of Lyon striker Georges Mikautadze.
With Lyon relegated to Ligue 2 due to poor financial condition, the 24-year-old’s departure from the Groupama Stadium now seems much more feasible. Despite the frontrunners for his signature, Spurs will not find it easy to land the Georgian international.

This is because, according to a report from Tutto Juve, Juventus are also considering a move for Georges Mikautadze. Spurs are ready to present an offer in the coming weeks but Juventus want to rival the Premier League club for the centre-forward, who enjoyed a sensational debut season in Lyon colours.

Mikautadze, who was a revelation at Euro 2024 in Germany, netted 17 goals and supplied 11 assists on top of that in 47 appearances. After miserably failing at Ajax, he has managed to rebuild his reputation and now appears likely to leave Lyon following their relegation to the second division. The Georgian has emerged as an intriguing target for Spurs. Him being courted as a back-up plan to Solanke not only stands as a practical choice but also shows the Lilywhites’ commitment towards going for relatively younger player with room to grow further.
Fresh off the back of a blistering season in Ligue 1, Tottenham must do everything within their powers to beat Juventus to Mikautadze’s signature.
