Premier League side expected to demand £50million from Tottenham for defensive star

Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson has emerged as a target for Tottenham
A slow start to the summer transfer window has left Tottenham Hotspur playing catch-up with their rivals.
Fans were hopeful that the club build on the Europa League success by bringing in new players quickly through the door. That has not been the case, though, with Daniel Levy failing to act decisively since the transfer window commenced on June 1. If things don’t change quickly, Thomas Frank will find it tough to close the big gap on top six teams next season.
One area the club bosses must definitely address is the defence. Spurs’ squad was stretched badly due to persistent injury problems last season, with the defensive unit being hit the most. The lack of quality depth massively affected the North London club to juggle Premier League football with European adventure and, eventually, they only finished a place above the relegation zone.

Following Sergio Reguilon’s release, Tottenham now have just one natural left-back, Destiny Udogie, currently in Thomas Frank’s squad. The left-back is an area Tottenham must bolster without fail as Frank simply cannot enter the new season with just Udogie. This has perhaps led to the club’s interest in Fulham star Antonee Robinson.
Antonee Robinson enjoyed a fantastic 2024/25 season, registering 10 assists in 36 Premier League outings. He was a mainstay at the back for Fulham, who were impressive and finished 11th in the league table. However, signing the USA international would be a tough ask this summer as the Cottagers have no real intentions to let him go.
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes that it would take an eye-watering fee of £50million for Fulham to accept Antonee Robinson leaving this summer.
“Why would Fulham want to get rid of him,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Why would they allow him to leave if he’s still got three years on his contract? If Tottenham are interested, it’s going to take £50m. They’ve got Udogie, where’s he gone? He’s still a Tottenham player, an Italy international.
“Speculation at this time of the year is speculation. The only reason Robinson would want to leave Fulham is because Tottenham have UEFA Champions League football. Fulham did quite well last year, and he was one of the reasons.
“Spurs have decent depth at full-back anyway. I think this is speculation; I don’t think Fulham will accept any offers unless it is an obscene amount of money.”

It goes without saying that Robinson has established himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in the division in recent years. The Fulham skipper has shown great pace, athleticism, tenacity, physicality and attacking punch to cause teams so many problems. He isn’t defensively bad, either, which makes him a perfect package for a full-back.
Set to turn 28 in August, the American is at the peak of his powers and would be expected to walk straight into Frank’s XI if he signed. However, that would leave Udogie’s future uncertain at White Hart Lane. So will Spurs want to pay a solid fee to sign Robinson and risk harming the development of Udogie?

Udogie is 22 and has shown he can be relied upon to be the club’s first-choice left-back for easily more than five years. This makes the idea of signing a soon-to-be 28-year-old Robinson a bit perplexing, but if Spurs are actually looking for a new left-back, we must target a younger profile.
