RB Leipzig wants to return to his former club amid Tottenham transfer links

Thomas Frank has a massive task of building on the Europa League success next season. All eyes will be on the Danish tactician as he looks to create his own legacy at N17 and leave his mark at the club. The ex-Brentford boss clearly does not lack any self-belief as he came out and said that he aims to make Spurs ‘serial winners’ in the coming years.

This is a big statement to make, and some might say that the 51-year-old has managed to put himself under pressure before managing a single game for the club. To build his own legacy at N17, Thomas Frank will need reinforcements in the summer. As of now, the Lilywhites have not made a single statement signing that could bolster the quality of the squad for next season.

The attacking line is clearly lacking consistency, and fans will hope that the issues in the final third of the pitch are addressed quickly. Club captain Heung-Min Son is facing a steady decline in form after the 32-year-old endured a ‘stop-start’ campaign last season. Another forward that failed to make an instant impact was Mathys Tel. The Frenchman is still young though, and has time to develop his game and make his mark at N17.

Tottenham might miss out on RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons

There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in a new attacker for next season. The Lilywhites clearly need an upgrade on the left-flank as Thomas Frank aims to build on the Europa League success. With Heung-Min Son facing an uncertain future at the club, Daniel Levy has decided to bring in a quality replacement that could fill the void left behind by the South Korea international.

It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Netherlands international wants to leave the German club in the summer after Leipzig finished 7th in the Bundesliga and failed to qualify for Champions League football for next season. The Lilywhites have taken notice of that and have offered the 23-year-old to play regularly in the elite competitions next season.

However, Tottenham are all set to face a setback in their efforts to land the ex-PSG star. As per BILD, Simons wants to return to Barcelona in the summer and prove his worth in the La Liga. The report also states that no Premier League clubs have made an enquiry for the 23-year-old, and one of the main reasons why RB Leipzig want to sell him is due to his ‘attitude’.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the talented attacker. Daniel Levy still has the chance to lure Simons to N17 by offering him a lucrative contract and a chance to play in the Champions League regularly. With Thomas Frank relying heavily on his wingers, the ex-PSG star would surely get regular game-time in the Premier League as well. He would instantly replace Heung-Min Son in the starting eleven, with Mathys Tel becoming Simons’ understudy.
