Tottenham have set their sights on signing highly-rated Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton
Tottenham Hotspur’s summer business is truly underway after a busy last week.
They began the week by announcing the capture of Japanese defensive prospect Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale. He was followed by Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United on Wednesday, and a day after, Spurs agreed to trigger Morgan Gibbs White’s release clause at Nottingham Forest. The English midfielder was due for his medical on Friday, only for Nottingham Forest complicating matters with their legal appeal.
Spurs require reinforcements in the middle of the park after a poor last campaign. They will reportedly offload both Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur if they fail to agree on new contracts. Bissouma, in particular, appears to be the likeliest to be sold this summer amid concrete interest from Fenerbahce.

While young Lucas Bergvall was one of the club’s better performers in midfield, Thomas Frank’s side lack a deep-lying playmaker who can hold things together and control the tempo of play. As per recent reports, Frank has asked the club to close the deal for highly-rated Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
Adam Wharton has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising midfield talents in England. Since joining Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024, the 21-year-old’s stock has only gone high thanks to his eye-catching displays in south London. Despite enduring an injury-hit last season, he recovered fully during final stages and helped the Eagles win the FA Cup in May.
Crystal Palace want a mammoth fee for their midfield starlet
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Crystal Palace want towards the £100million mark for Wharton after he has been attracting interest from Tottenham, and they will do everything possible to keep him at the club next season.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner and key decision-makers behind the scenes are seeking to keep the English midfielder on board instead of showing interest in doing business with Spurs in the coming weeks. As he still has four years remaining on his contract, the south Londoners remain in a strong negotiating position which will complicate matters for Spurs to thrash out a deal.

The aforementioned report adds that the Palace starlet has been identified as Tottenham’s ‘dream signing’, even though it has been accepted that they will find it tough to persuade their London rivals to sanction a move this summer.
Tottenham face stumbling block to get a deal for Adam Wharton over the line
Palace do not have any desire to let go Wharton and have slapped a mammoth price tag to scare off Tottenham and his other potential suitors. While the one-cap England international is an exciting prospect, thanks to his age, technical ability, and homegrown status, the current valuation in the region of £100million is an overkill.

As much as Spurs are admirers of Wharton’s talents, and Frank has asked the club officials to bring him on board, it looks very unlikely that the North London club will break the bank on the Palace midfielder- at least not this summer. If Palace remain firm on their valuation, which they have every right to do, the Lilywhites may switch their focus to more financially prudent alternatives to strengthen our midfield unit.
