Tottenham-linked midfielder Boubacar Kamara has extended his stay at Aston Villa by signing a contract until 2030
Tottenham Hotspur have been busy in recent weeks of the summer transfer window. They have wrapped up the deals for Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus, whilst turning Mathys Tel’s loan into a permanent deal from Bayern Munich.
Spurs were also stuck in the Morgan Gibbs-White saga until last weekend. Nottingham Forest finally managed to keep hold of Gibbs-White despite the Hotspur Way chiefs triggering his secret release clause, with Gibbs-White signing a bumper three-year contract.
While the decision was a clear blow for Tottenham, the club is not sitting quietly and have already identified Gibbs-White’s alternative in Manchester City’s James McAtee. They are already in conversations with McAtee over a possible move to N17. In addition to a creative midfielder, Tottenham are also in the market for a No.6. This has been evidenced by their interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha in recent weeks.

Boubacar Kamara set to stay at Aston Villa amid Tottenham interest
Another midfielder who has seemingly caught Spurs’ attention is Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara. The 25-year-old has been a reliable performer in the heart of Aston Villa’s midfield for three seasons since arriving on a free transfer from Marseille. He was a regular in Unai Emery’s starting XI this past campaign, helping Villa qualify for the Europa League.
Now, according to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Tottenham have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Boubacar Kamara as he has decided to stay put at Villa Park. Arsenal were also understood to be interested in the Frenchman, who signed a new long-term deal until 2030 with Villa last week.
“On Boubacar Kamara – I’m told he was firmly on Arsenal’s long list of midfield targets this summer. Tottenham also really liked him and made an enquiry, but it quickly became clear he wouldn’t be leaving Aston Villa,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“One interesting note: PSG were said to be very impressed with Kamara during their Champions League meetings with Villa, and they’re now expected to keep tabs on him going forward.”
Kamara will be a player that continues to attract interest from elite European clubs, with Bailey suggesting that PSG are planning to monitor his progress going forward after being impressed by his performances during last season’s Champions League knockout clashes.

Setback for Spurs
After Gibbs-White dealt a blow by signing a three-year contract at City Ground, Kamara seemingly poured cold water to Tottenham’s hopes by penning a new deal until 2030 with Villa.
In Kamara, Thomas Frank would have got exactly the profile in midfield that he’s been hunting all summer. A defensive midfielder by trade, the five-cap France international excels in breaking up the opposition’s play with his tackling, interceptions and anticipation. He is also a fine passer of the ball, more than capable of spotting the attacking players in the final third.
At 25, the midfielder is still not close to entering the prime stages of his career but has got three years of Premier League experience under his belt now. Thus, a player of Kamara’s qualities and experience could have been a game-changing signing for Frank’s Spurs, and having missed out on his services, we must now focus on quickly closing out a deal for Palhinha.
