Tottenham have recently made contact with Chelsea over the possible swoop for Nicolas Jackson
Tottenham Hotspur need to act fast in the transfer market as the new Premier League season is upon us. The Lilywhites are still looking to bring cover in the ‘number nine’ position for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign, where Thomas Frank and Co. will be competing in the Champions League.
Signed on a club-record fee from Bournemouth last summer, Dominic Solanke struggled with form and fitness, enduring a stop-start debut year in N17. The England international had to single-handedly shoulder the burden of leading the line, and because of no reliable back-up, he could not deliver the goods as expected by the fans.
Certainly, Richarlison did not do anything to relieve the pressure off his shoulders as he was injured for most parts of the season. Since arriving from Everton in 2022, the Brazilian’s tenure at Spurs has been ravaged by injury problems and chronic inconsistency. As a result, the Hotspur Way chiefs have been given the green signal by Thomas Frank to offload the 28-year-old this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with Chelsea forward
Tottenham have recently made an approach to sign Nicolas Jackson to boost their forward options. The 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order after the summer arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and as a result, he has been granted permission by Chelsea to seek a new club. The Blues have slapped an eye-watering £80m valuation on the Senegal international.
Given Spurs have Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as options up front, ex-scout Bryan King thinks the club may have to move on one of them if they are to make a serious attempt to sign Nicolas Jackson.
“Spurs spent vast sums of money on Richarlison and Solanke, and that hasn’t paid off so far,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“If you’re going to bring in somebody like Jackson, then one of those two has definitely got to go. You’ve got to move one on, and you’ve got to try and get decent money.
“Spurs have got to stop sitting on the fence. They’ve either got to say these two are good enough for the new season, or they’ve got to split them up and get one out of the door to bring a new man in.
“I think Jackson could certainly play up front with Solanke. It’s got to be this class of player, if Tottenham want to improve on what they did last season.”

Richarlison likeliest to get moved on this summer
The Lilywhites splashed big to sign Solanke from Bournemouth just a year ago, so there is no way the club decides to part ways with him after just one season. This makes Richarlison the likeliest striker of the two to leave this summer, especially with the key decision-makers keen to cash him in now as he has entered the final two years of his contract.
The Brazil international has attracted interest from Palmeiras of late, although it is not yet known whether he’d fancy a move back to his country now. Clearly, Tottenham need to make space in the squad for the addition of a new striker, and interestingly, reports have claimed that we’d only make a move for Jackson if Richarlison departs.
Should the club manage to get rid of Richarlison, Daniel Levy and Co. can decide to accelerate talks with Chelsea over the possible signing of Jackson, but not at their quoted £80m valuation.
