Tottenham make inquiries for veteran Roma star with 114 G/A in late summer push

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur eyeing late summer move for AS Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini

Tottenham Hotspur are having quite a busy end to the 2025 summer transfer window as they are still looking to bring in more offensive reinforcements for Thomas Frank’s team. In this regard, Spurs have lately faced a significant setback as well, as they saw their North London rivals Arsenal get very close to landing the Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, despite the Lilywhites previously being considered to be the favorites for his signing.

In such a context, it is highly likely that Tottenham will have to turn their attentions to other possible candidates in the market to bolster their attack. As per a report from CaughtOffside, Spurs have already identified one such target, i.e. the AS Roma attacking midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, and have inquiries about a potential move for him.

The Italian midfielder’s wages – he is earning €6 million per season – are becoming a problem for the Romans, and they are looking to cash in on him to get rid of his high wages.

The Italian could be a good addition for Spurs

Meanwhile, Tottenham are looking for more offensive reinforcements, and the 29-year-old could be a very good addition to Thomas Frank’s team. Although he plays mostly as an attacking midfielder, he can also be utilized as a central midfielder or defensive midfielder. However, it is in the attack where he shines the best, as is evident from the 55 goals and 59 assists he has given for Roma so far.

At 29 years of age, a move to the Premier League could also be an exciting prospect for the Italian playmaker. Currently, he is at the peak of his career, and the time is ripe to start playing for a top level Premier League side. In addition to his goals and playmaking skills, he will also bring a lot of experience and leadership qualities to the team, something Thomas Frank would definitely value in his squad.

With James Maddison currently out with an injury and the team having recently lost Son Heung-Min, Lorenzo Pellegrini would definitely be a good option for Tottenham, especially if they are unable to land their other preferred targets like Eberechi Eze. However, time is of the essence and Spurs will have to work urgently on this operation to land the midfielder before the summer transfer closes.
