Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling has a decision to make with Tottenham and Everton vying for his signature
Tottenham’s approach in the transfer market has raised a lot of questions amongst the fanbase. The Lilywhites were supposed to build on the Europa League success in the summer and bring in quality players for Thomas Frank in time. But that has just not happened and the North London club is floundering to pick and choose players to sign in the last few days of the window.
There is not much time left in the transfer window and the Lilywhites are still looking to bring in Heung-Min Son’s replacement. The South Korean left for pastures new almost three weeks back and still Daniel Levy has not managed to come close to signing a player that could fill in the void left behind by the legendary winger.
As we all know by now, Thomas Frank is highly dependant on his wingers during build-up play. The Danish tactician wants his wide players to cut inside and become a goal threat whenever it is deemed possible. As of now, the Spurs manager has not had the chance to setup his team in a way that relies solely on his wingers due to the lack of depth in that position.
Tottenham keeping an eye on Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling
It was reported earlier that Spurs were eyeing a possible deal to sign Tyler Dibling early in the window. The Lilywhites had a £35m bid rejected for the youngster in January. However, the Saints then suffered relegation and lowered the asking price to a realistic £55m for the talented winger. And the North London club were in concrete talks with Southampton in the hopes of landing the 19-year-old, before talks fell through.
As per Fabrizio Romano, it looks like Spurs have held fresh talks for the talented winger yet again. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said,
“Then for Tottenham, another name I think we have to watch, is Tyler Dibling. Tyler Dibling is a top target for Everton. Everton remain in negotiations for Tyler Dibling, but tonight, during internal talks they had at Tottenham also the name of Tyler Dibling was mentioned.”
The reliable journalist has shared that Tottenham remain in ‘internal talks’ to try and sign Tyler Dibling in the coming days. However, the Lilywhites face tough competition from Everton for his signature. And it is believed that the Toffees are still the favourites to land the 19-year-old in the coming days. Southampton have also set an asking price of £50m for the winger as they look to cash-in on him.
With Mathys Tel being the only natural left-winger in the squad, Spurs will hope to land Dibling in the next few days. The games will be coming thick and fast this season, so it is obvious that Tel will not be able to play week in week out. Signing a new winger would also give Thomas Frank a chance to rotate the team and keep the players fresh if they want to compete on all four fronts.
