Tottenham look set to have a busy few days in the summer transfer window, with not long left to go until the window shuts. With just about a week left, Spurs still have a lot of business left to do to reinforce the squad at Thomas Frank’s disposal.
Spurs have so far brought in the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha from West Ham United and Bayern Munich respectively. They have been linked with a move for a whole host of other players but they haven’t gotten over the line.
The attacking midfield is a position that Spurs need to reinforce this summer. With the ACL injury to James Maddison ruling him out for the foreseeable future and Dejan Kulusevski’s existing issue, the club finds themselves short of options.
Tottenham want Morgan Rogers
Now, as per transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke on Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have entered preliminary discussions to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer in a blockbuster move.
The English youngster won the PFA Young Player of the Year award for his exploits for Unai Emery’s side last year. Despite being an unknown proposition coming into the campaign, he became one of the first names on the team sheet at Villa.
The Midlands giants have been hamstrung by PSR regulations this transfer window and don’t seem to be out of the woods yet. The club could thus be tempted into a sale, should Tottenham offer massive money for Morgan Rogers.
A “fantastic” signing

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder would be a perfect fit in Thomas Frank’s high-intensity system in North London. He is excellent at leading a press from the front and can chip in with goals and assists.
Villa are said to value Rogers at around £100m, but Tottenham are likely to negotiate to bring this price down to pull off a stunning late transfer market coup. It would be a massive statement from Spurs to sign him this summer.
The next few days could prove to be pivotal in this transfer saga. Tottenham need a player who can potentially be a ceiling-raiser in the #10 position and Rogers is exactly that. Let’s wait and see how things play out on this front in the coming days.
