Daniel Levy has left behind a lasting legacy at Tottenham despite all the ups and downs
The news of Daniel Levy’s departure has shocked Tottenham fans after the whole thing happened suddenly. The ex-Spurs chairman was not expecting to be cut off from the project after an up and down 24-year stint at N17. However, the Lewis family thought it was time to move on from Levy, as the Lilywhites prepared to kickstart a new era and shift the focus on performances and results on the pitch.
But one cannot take away the hard work that Daniel Levy put into Spurs in making the North London club a profitable, as well as, a sustainable club. Under the Englishman’s guidance, the Lilywhites managed to compete regularly for Champions League football year after year. Not only that, but Levy also made sure that the club had a world-class stadium, and a state-of-the-art training facility.

However, Levy failed to cross one final hurdle consistently during his stint at N17. And that is, winning silverware on a regular basis. Under his leadership, the North London club only managed to win two major trophies, clearly indicating that the results on the pitch were not prioritised. This is exactly where things started going downhill for the former Spurs chairman.
Daniel Levy’s departure from Tottenham has rocked the footballing world
Well, many fans are reserving their judgement on Daniel Levy’s tenure at N17 after the club announced the shock departure of the Spurs chairman. The Englishman has played a major part in getting the Lilywhites back on top, competing with elite clubs in the Champions League. However, the lack of success to show for it put Levy in a tight spot as he ended up being singled out for the club’s failures.
Now, Harry Kane has shared his verdict on Levy’s shock departure from N17. Speaking in his pre-match presser during the international break, Kane said (via Football.london),
“Obviously it was a bit of a surprise, if I’m honest. I didn’t expect it, didn’t see that coming. Daniel has been a fantastic chairman for Tottenham in the 20-or-so years he’s been there. Considering where the club was and where it is now, I think there’s been a big change, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well.”
The legendary striker added,
“At any stage there’s always going to be change in clubs, and change in the higher positions. Obviously, I don’t know too much about why or what happened. All I can say is I wish Daniel all the best in whatever’s next for him.”
Harry Kane admitted that the news of Daniel Levy’s departure came as a surprise to him. However, the legendary striker pointed out all the good work Levy did for Tottenham, praising the ex-Spurs chairman for putting the club back on the map. Kane was also expecting the Englishman to depart sooner or later, but did not think that the decision would be so abrupt.
It remains to be seen what kind of legacy Daniel Levy has left at N17. The ex-Spurs chairman has certainly given the best platform for the Lilywhites to build on and cross the final hurdle in the coming years. With endless revenue streams and a great stadium, the North London club will surely look to win silverware consistently.
