Reputed journalist claims Tottenham target Joel Ordonez is wanted by Inter Milan
It has been over days since the 2025 summer transfer market closed for the major European leagues, and Tottenham Hotspur had quite a busy last few days of the market.
The fans were surprised with the addition of Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan from PSG on the transfer deadline day. A few days before Kolo Muani’s arrival, Spurs had sealed the move for exciting talent Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
Meanwhile, the Lilywhites were also looking to add some defensive solidity and depth in the final weeks of the transfer window. They are lacking serious depth in central defence beyond Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso. Radu Dragusin is on his comeback trail from an ACL rupture sustained back in January, while summer signing Kota Takai has been missing since late July with an injury.
Thomas Frank is not helped by the fact that both Romero and Van de Ven are injury prone and spent several months on the sidelines last season. Along with that, Ben Davies is 32 and out of contract at the end of the season.

Tottenham target Joel Ordonez wanted by Inter Milan
Tottenham were reportedly among many clubs across Europe monitoring the situation of Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez during the summer transfer window.
Joel Ordonez has emerged as one of the most highly rated defenders in world football. Indeed, he was close to leaving Club Brugge in the summer, with Marseille having tried to lure him away to France in August. However, a deal did not come to fruition, and he has since stayed at Club Brugge, but not for long.
Now, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano on his Italian YouTube channel, Inter Milan have added Ordonez into their list for new central defender in 2026. After being on Marseille and Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal’s radar this summer, Inter Milan have started keeping close tabs on him.
What should Spurs do?
Ordonez was a part of the Ecuador squad that stunned Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday. He played the full 90 minutes and helped Ecuador keep a clean sheet against the world champions.
Inter entering the race for the 21-year-old is not good news for Tottenham. The youngster has shown during his time at Bruges that he has a bright future in the game. A defender with a great mix of technical ability and strength, Ordonez can thrive in the Premier League and develop into a top player.
This is something Thomas Frank might be interested in, especially in the January transfer window due to the patchy injury records of Van de Ven and Romero, coupled with how Dragusin performs after recovering fully from the ACL injury. It looks like there is just a matter of time before Ordonez moves on to a bigger club to elevate his game even more, and if Frank feels he is a centre-back short, he must push the board to sign him in the winter window itself.
