Competition intensifies for Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
Tottenham ended the summer transfer window with a bang after managing to land Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani against all odds. The arrival of Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha also meant that the Lilywhites were aiming to build on the Europa League success and elevate the quality of the squad on the pitch.
However, one position that the North London club did fail to address in the summer is the #8 position. Spurs are seriously lacking depth in the middle of the park, and fans are worried that the Lilywhites would struggle to control games against tough oppositions. To make matters worse, James Maddison has also ruptured his ACL that has ruled him out for most parts of the season.

Thomas Frank is not helped by the fact that Rodrigo Bentancur is facing an uncertain future at N17 and would be able to talk to other clubs in January. Along with that, Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma is also heading for the exit doors after falling down the pecking order under the Danish tactician before the season started.
Tottenham eyeing a possible deal for Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton
Tottenham are looking to revamp the midfield in January as Thomas Frank looks to compete hard on all four fronts this season. The Danish tactician relies heavily on his midfielders for build-up play, as well as, breaking down opposition attacks time and again. Not only that, but the ex-Brentford boss wants his midfielders to be technically sound on and off the ball.
It was reported earlier that Spurs tried to sign Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton on deadline day last week. The Lilywhites viewed him as an ideal player that could partner up with Joao Palhinha in the middle of the park. However, the Eagles rejected any advances for the England international, given how tough it would be for them to find a replacement late in the window.
Now, Tottenham are looking to sign Wharton in January, but face competition from a few clubs for his signature. As per TEAMtalk, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all interested in signing the 21-year-old in January. All three Premier League giants want to bolster their midfield before the season ends, giving Spurs a tough task of luring Wharton to N17. The report also states that Palace value the midfielder at around £60m, and would not entertain any offers below the valuation.
Often described as ‘incredible’, Adam Wharton has shown during his 18-month spell at Selhurst Park that he can be one of the standout players in the Premier League in the coming years. The England international played a crucial part in helping the Eagles win the FA Cup and the Community Shield this year. And it looks like there is just a matter of time before the 21-year-old moves on to a bigger club to elevate his game even more.
