Aberdeen warned they will regret decision to leave Tottenham defender Alfie Dorrington from their UEFA Europa Conference League squad
Tottenham Hotspur did well to add quality to Thomas Frank’s squad during the summer transfer window. Five new faces arrived, along with the permanent signings of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel, over the summer to provide the new boss the tools he requires to compete well in all competitions this season.
In addition, Spurs also moved on players- both permanently and on loan. Bryan Gil was sold to Girona on the transfer deadline day, while Manor Solomon sealed a last-minute loan switch to Villarreal. There were several academy kids and young talents who were also loaned out. Ashley Phillips re-joined Stoke City after impressing on loan last season, whereas Luka Vuskovic who only officially arrived at White Hart Lane back in July, joined Bundesliga outfit HSV Hamburger.
Alfie Dorrington also decided to make a temporary switch from the north London club. The central defender joined Aberdeen on a season-long loan in July, returning to the club where he spent the second half of last season. He made 16 appearances for Aberdeen and won the Scottish Cup, quickly becoming a favourite at Pittodrie due to his no-nonsense and aggressive style of defending.

Aberdeen warned they will regret for their Europe Conference League decision on Alfie Dorrington
Surprisingly, Alfie Dorrington has been omitted from Aberdeen’s UEFA Europa Conference League squad. This came after the youngster played in both Europa League play-off rounds against Romanian side FSCB. The Scottish side lost 3-0 to FSCB in the second leg, thereby relegating them to the Europa Conference League.
Now, reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has expressed his disappointment with Aberdeen’s decision to not include Dorrington in their Conference League squad, expecting the Dons to regret it later down the line.
“I just think, considering how well he did there last season, he was outstanding for Aberdeen last year,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“So for him to have gone out on loan there again, a massive part of that must have been that European exposure. So for him to have been left out, I just find it very, very strange from Aberdeen’s part.
“I’m sure they’ll come to regret that decision when they see how well Dorrington plays in the Scottish Premiership.”

Tottenham must consider recalling Dorrington in January
Aberdeen excluding Dorrington from the main phase of UEFA’s third-tier European competition must have left the Tottenham chiefs upset. This decision came after the 20-year-old’s limited minutes in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.
Spurs allowed Dorrington to join the Dons hoping he will get regular minutes throughout the season to develop. Apart from playing in the Scottish Premiership, the defender would have expected to get some European experience under his belt, but Aberdeen have denied him the opportunity. With that in mind, Tottenham must consider recalling their academy talent in January if that option is available to them.
